Today is Independence Day in the United States. The day we celebrate our freedom from those bad guys. arg. My entire family came over, with the exception of one cousin and my mom. we all stuffed ourselves with huge barbeque ribs and cole slaw and beans and mmm mmm good bread. a classic southern feeding time meal. we all shared stories of the year and when it got dark, we all went outside and shot off tons of bright and colorful fireworks and hoped that the local police force didn't chase us down. we're leaving tomorrow, my dad and I, and coming back in three weeks to pick up my sister again. don't know what i'm gonna do to keep myself busy for those few weeks that I'm alone when my dad works. till next time.

So here I am in Enterprise, Alabama, the deep south. I got here yesterday and i had a terrible cold, so I pretty much had a pound of medicine in my body and a tissue held to my nose the entire day, but we got here safely, so I thank God for the wonderful trip. My sister and I spent the entire day today with our cousin, Kelly. She's a year younger than Steph and she's really smart, so she's cool to hang ten with. We went to the park in the morning and I ran a few miles with my dad while Steph and Kelly went on the swings. I finished before my dad, so we three girls sat in the truck with both the AC and stereo on full blast. We jammed to the Beatles and Lynard Skynard for about 10 minutes on our imaginary instruments and sang at the top of our not-so-talented voices. loads of fun, baby. then we went back to the house, took showers, played a few games, had a drawing contest, and ordered Little Ceasar's Pizza. Yum. Then my dad said he wanted me to go on a drive with him out into the country. We got some ice cream and drove around in the sticks for about 3 hours. Most of the time we were lost, but I got to see a bunck of the old houses that my ancestors used to live in, which was, surprisingly, very cool. as we drove, my dad told me a bunch of stories about my southern relatives that had me laughing my head off. my favorite was the story about my Great Grandpa Drinkard, from my Grandma's side of the family. turns out Drinkard was a drunkard. back when liquor was illegal, he was a bootlegger. He had an old brewery back in the woods where he would illegally make beer for himself. well, one day, he was bringing home a couple kegs when the cops (they were called something else back then, but I forgot what) showed up. they had the kegs full of beer as evidence and were going to lock my great grandpa up in jail for his crime. well, out comes my great grandma with a huge hammer and she smashes both the keg, smiles, and goes back inside. well, there goes the evidence, so he didn't have to go to jail after all. I couldn't beleive they're family.
well, when I got home, we three girls went to what we call the tire park and played hide and go seek and made an obstacle course. Then we came home and played blindfold hide and go seek, then we made up a game in which we dance like famous people, for example john travolta. Then we went outside and caught lightning bugs. We had a huge southern meal with fried chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes, green beans and homemade buscuits. today was awesome. can't wait for tomorrow. the fourth of July and we're having all the family over. woohooo!!!!!!

well, yesterday i dropped my mom off at the airport for her trip to Ireland. Even though we've had some pretty rough times and really bad fights, she's still my mom and I still love her a lot. I'm gonna miss her so much, well our good times. When we said our goodbyes we both cried and it was very sad. She'll be gone for a month and this friday my dad and I are dropping my sister off in Alabama for two weeks. I usually stay in Alabama too, but i wasn't allowed to this summer, I don't know why. But then it will be just me and my dad and sometime during those few weeks my dad is going to go on a trip and I'll be all alone, by myself. I'll probably have a couple friends over and enjoy the short whif of freedom, but no crazy parties, because thats just asking for trouble. While my mom is gone, I get stuck with all the chores. of course, my sister doesn't have to do anything because "she doesn't know how," or atleast that's what she says. My dad is always working so he never has time, therefore, leaving me. and I mean i have to do everything, laundry, cooking, cleaning, gardening, grocery shopping, and taxiing my sister around to wherever she needs to go. grrr. it's completely unfair that my sister is 14 and doesn't have to do anything. i had to do a lot when I was that age, but i guess since i'm around to do everything, why should she? i don't mind doing chores, but i'm only a 17-year-old teenager, not a house wife. guess i'll have to deal for a month. till next time on "My Life"

also, i was so happy for the whole night after recieving a simple phone call at 12:30 that night. it was from Kyle and he had just gotten back from the other party i spoke of earlier and he thanked me for giving him my insight about drinking and my faith. That meant so so so much to me, because now I know that he does actually pay attention to what I tell him and he really thinks about it. After talking to Kyle, all the girls at the sleepover asked what the call was about and who it was, because I was glowing and couldn't stop smiling. It was just the medicine I needed to cheer me up after such a hard day with my family. I feel that not only did God put Kyle in my life so God can use me to reach him in some way, but I was also put in Kyle's life so he can be there and give me that extra zest that goes such a long way in helping me. I still pray for him every day and I hope that God will give him the strength he needs to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior and live on after death in Heaven for eternity with Christ, my Lord, my hero, my best friend.

There are these three brothers on a plane while on vacation. One is very smart, one is pleasantly average, and the other, well, dumb as a doornob. Suddenly, the captain announces over the intercom that the plane is about to crash, because there is too much weight on the plane. He asks to please, throw out anything you can find to decrease the weight on the plane and perhaps make the crash landing not as damaging. So the smart guy throws out a seat, the average joe throws out a pole, and the dumb one throws out three hand grenades. eventually, the plane crashes in the middle of nowhere, but all survive. The captain sends the three brothers to search for help and they go separate directions. The smart guy comes across a man and asks him, "sir, why are you crying?" he responds, "I was just talking with my wife and a seat falls out of nowhere and landed on top of her and now she's dead." "oops," says the smart one. The average guy comes across an old lady and asks," ma'am, why are you crying?" She replies, "I was just walking my dog and out of the sky came a pole that stabbed my dog and now he's dead." "oops," he says. the dumb guy comes across a man and asks," sir, why are you laughing?" his response: "I farted and my house blew up"

Okay, so my friends Christin and Jessica are throwing this party tomorrow, Friday, which will have alcohol, for the sole reason of causing drama amongst a wide variety of people for entertainment purposes. I don't know about you, but a crowd of restless and offended teens who have been drinking the night away isn't very entertaining. Wow. I can't beleive they even thought of doing such a thing. Along with everyone arguing with eachother, many are going to argue with them, because even the most obvious enemies of eachother have been invited. They're just asking for trouble and it's gonna be bad. So, I am definately not going. Kyle is, however, and I'm really worried for him. He's a very good friend of mine and his one and only enemy is also going, Jeremy. now, Kyle is a guy that won't take crap from anyone, especially Jeremy. I have known Jeremy most of my life and I know that he's going to purposely aggravate Kyle. so, there's your fight scene right there. I'm also worried because kyle told me that he's planning on drinking and even possibly getting drunk. This dissappoints me greatly, because Kyle used to tell me that he would never do something like that, becuase it's immature and stupid, but now, he's become what he never wanted to be. I've defended my beliefs over and over again, and I can just pray that God will watch over him and protect him from the various opportunities for sin that he will encounter at this party. Kyle has been struggling with a couple girls lately, girls he absolutely adores. I just hope that he realizes this situation is only a mere twig in his path and God has a better plan for him. I pray for him every day. He knows I am very strong in my beliefs and it encourages me that he's so stuck on repetitively bringing up the subject of my Christian faith, but it bothers me that he only brings it up for kicks (his own words), because he knows I will argue my beleifs against his beleifs, or his non-beleifs. However, I won't give up, because he means too much to me and to God. maybe, someday, he'll see that.
Since I'm not going to that party, I'm going to another. One of the leaders of my youth group is having a sleepover, girls only. Nice, clean fun with some of my closest friends is something I can look foward to. These types of parties are very rare in high school and I wish there were more for everyone. If i could, I would throw a good party every night, just so I could save a person's life that might otherwise be taken by a drunk driver from an opposing party. So many people say, "oh, that would never happen to me." Well, I can promise you that every person who has been killed by a driver under the influence said that more than once, but now, they say that no more.

and guy troubles they are. I need to blow off some steam about a few dudes in my life. Starting with my dad. i hate how he pretends to be disgusted during the kissing scenes of a movie like a walk to remember while he, himself, secretly keeps a hidden stash of playboy magazines in his desk drawer. He doesn't think I know, but what am i? blind or stupid? didn't think so. okay, so it's a guy thing. that doesn't make it right. how would it make you feel if i told you that satan encourages that sort of thing. well, i just did. do you really want to give into satan?
another guy is toby. he was my prom date and we were really good friends. However, during the last slow dance, the romantic mood was set and we kissed. that's completely normal. we kissed again when he dropped me off on my doorstep. the next Monday, i asked him what was going on between us, because, yes, we did kiss. all he had to say was, "I don't know. but when I find out, i'll tell you." Wow. what, am I going to wait for him to tell me who i'm going to date. If he liked me, he would have said yes, but he didn't, so I assumed it was just "of the mood." and it did turn out that i was just a pair of lips to him when he was a guy to date to me. He went straight to another girl and now he's gone, but I'm glad, because I wouldn't want to date someone with his motives.
Next is kyle. hmmm. well, he liked me earlier this year and I liked him, but he wasn't a Christian and dating him would go against my beliefs and it would be really hard to date a guy who thought everything i based my life on was a load of bologna. I don't worship bologna, thank you. I knew that dating him would be against God's will, so I said no, sorry. and sorry I was. no one ever said being a christian was easy. sacrifices must be made. and kyle was one of them. we grew apart and time passed. but as time passed we grew close again. I'm starting to like him again, and I don't know what to do. But, I don't think it's gonna work, because he's still not a christian, and he likes other girls. Any guy who tells me he really really likes other girls is definately not interested in me, so i let him go. again.
so, right now no guys are interested in me and i'm not really interested in anyone special either. To tell you the truth, I'm kinda a "boyfriend virgin." I've never had a boyfriend and I've only been on one date, prom, and as you can tell from before, that didn't work out. so, until next time my loves :)

Sure, you think you know me. I'm the gullible giggler over there with the chucks. But, what so many people don't realize is that i believe I'm on the verge of depression. I have so many struggles in my life and i have tried so hard to stay strong and defeat the evil, but every day, it's gotten harder and harder. School this year in the IB program was the most difficult time I've ever had. my subjects were hard, my teachers were tough, and my nights were long. but, i made it through and passed everything. My three very best friends, brittany, megan, and lauren, were always there for me, especially during the tough times with my family. My sister is a huge tattle-teller and many of her tells aren't even true, so that gets me in more trouble than i deserve. plus, my parents are extremely strict and many times inconsiderate and mal-tempered. I mean, one time when I was younger, my mom locked me out of the house during the winter without a jacket for 4 hours, because i ate a piece of candy before dinner. let me tell you, that sucked big time. I've suffered both physical and verbal abuse from my mom and dad for many years. When I got to my teen years, i've learned that sometimes I need to stick up for myself against my parents, because they make many mistakes. However, the last time i did that, i ended up with a bruise and tears and without dinner. So, obviously, i'm much more timid. That quietness around my family expanded beyond those borders and now, unless I'm with very close friends, i stay quiet and polite. I mean, hearing the people who are supposed to love you most tell you that you're fat and useless everyday for 5 years has an effect on a person, know what i mean. I'm very self-conscious, but I am a woman, so hear me roar. I am strong and I know I can overcome this obstacle of life and bravely take on the next. Once you get to know me, you'll see the real me, which is much better, I promise.
